CIBER Success Stories
Reciprocal Exchange year abroad from Texas A&M University
"Unlike after any of my previous short trips abroad, rather than feeling like the American back from a foreign land, I now felt more like a "world citizen." As we have all witnessed since the terrible tragedy of September (11), our world is far more connected than ever before. For those that doubted our country's role in foreign affairs and whether events in the third world can impact us, surely they are now believers. I have also studied the effects on global financial markets. If anything is clear, it is that our world will only become more interconnected politically, culturally, economically, and even spiritually. We simply cannot afford to be ignorant. Through my experiences both here and abroad, I can say that studying international business, culture, and language has been one of the smartest investments I have made.
During my time abroad, I also had the opportunity to take few trips to other locations. One such trip, to Budapest, Hungary and to Romania, had perhaps even a greater impact on me than from my time in Western Europe. .....I have grown immeasurably through this experience. For me, international study and travel will always be a worthwhile investment, one that pays dividends in knowledge, understanding, and good will for all those involved."
