Dr. Stan Smith, Professor of economics and Director of the Population Program in the Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR) at UF presented a brief history of Florida’s population growth, including a description of the components of growth and the role played by international migration. He discussed some of the reasons why growth was so rapid for so many years and why it declined so dramatically over
the last few years, and shared some thoughts on what Florida’s growth might look
like over the next couple of decades.
