This conference is a sequel to the First Annual Research Conference and Workshop on Offshoring held at Duke University in April, 2007, and focuses on broader issues related to international sourcing. In this conference, we wish to foster a dialogue among scholars studying issues related to international sourcing and international competitiveness, and their implications for international business (IB) strategy and theory development. Select papers from the research forum will be published in a Special Issue of the Journal of International Management.

Participants will be exposed to the methodology typically used by business schools when they engage students in praxis-oriented business cases. The University of Florida CIBER invites you to join us in St. Petersburg for an exchange of ideas and perspectives on how to most effectively train global leaders of the future. We will explore how students and educators can be equipped with the linguistic, multi-cultural and managerial tools necessary for leadership in the 21st century. Conference attendees will participate in sessions devoted to business language instruction and ways to develop successful interdisciplinary collaboration. The 2008 conference also provides a unique opportunity to remember the past and to look toward the future. We celebrate our roots–which date from the 1981 EMU Conference on Language and Communication for World Business and the Professions – as we commemorate the 10th anniversary of the historic 1999 conference held in San Diego. In this role, the GB Club is dedicated to supporting global business growth of the State of Michigan and its diverse manufacturing and service organizations. The main activity of the GB Club is the luncheon speaker series.

The monthly GB Club luncheons provide outstanding speakers and relaxed networking opportunities. With extensive international experience, the speakers wrap personal insights around a practical and up-to-the-minute approach to conducting international trade. The luncheons are open to the general public. Typically, about 100 business executives, public policy makers, and academics attend each luncheon.

Apr 22, 2008 The KC Division of FBI Presents: International Symposium on Agroterrorism - University of Kansas
The Heart of America Joint Terrorism Task Force (HOA-JTTF) in conjunction with the Kansas City Division of the FBI, having identified the threat associated with a potential agroterrorism incident to be of great concern, initiated the concept of an opportunity to bring together the public and private sectors; including government and law enforcement agencies at the federal, state and local levels; academia; the scientific community; the health, medical and veterinary professions and private industry, to identify the most significant issues relevant to terrorism incidents/threats involving the food and agricultrural sectors. The third annual ISA is scheduled for April 22-24, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. It will focus on the need to closely communicate and coordinate among private industry, law enforcement, government agencies, science, academia and the health and medical professions in order to protect the global food supply. An exhibit hall will also be available, assembling vendors to share information and promote relevant products and services. PTESC is a joint initiative of faculty from the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University with a common interest in the study of Europe. PTESC organizes a monthly seminar with current work in progress presented by scholars resident in, or visiting, the Delaware Valley. In addition, PTESC also organizes special events and workshops on topics of interest to Europeanists. PTESC aims to foster learning and dialogue across disciplinary boundaries, though primary emphasis is on the study of contemporary politics, political economy, and history in Europe.

The Centers for International Business Education and Research (CIBERs) were created under the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 to increase and promote the nation's capacity for international understanding and economic enterprise. Administered by the U.S. Department of Education under Title VI, Part B of the Higher Education Act of 1965, the CIBER program links the manpower and information needs of U.S. business with the international education, language training, and research capacities of universities across the U.S. Thirty-one universities were designated as centers that serve as regional and national resources to business, students, and academics.
