CIBERweb Newsletter

Success Story

CIBER - University of Colorado at Denver

CIBER programs provide a very useful platform for discussing the pressing issues of today's business environment and also allow for expanding our understanding of political, cultural and historic aspects. We must strive to pass on to the next generation the best of our thinking and experiences to enable them to build a fairer world for themselves, for emerging nations and the underprivileged. The current tensions in the world are clear evidence of the fact that we leave them with an unfinished job and we owe them all the support that we can give.

Peter Widmer - financial advisor in Switzerland, former chairman of Julius Baer Investment Management, Inc.

Dear CIBER Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce a new tool on CIBERweb - the CIBERweb Newsletter. Each month, we will email the CIBERweb newsletter to the CIBER group which will include the upcoming portfolio of CIBER activities. The newsletter will also include a randomly selected National Impact Publication and a Success Story. Below is February 2007 piece as a starting sample. The CIBERweb Newsletter was created for the following reasons. First, we want to provide the CIBER community with the immediate upcoming activities to ignite ideas and additional collaboration among CIBERs. Second, we want to draw attention to the website and increase its usage. Third, we want to allow the public to sign up for the monthly CIBERweb Newsletter for more widespread publicity.

We have also built the system so that each CIBER can create its own summary of activities/events for their "newsletter" (this feature will be made available in a few months after seeing the impact of the CIBERweb Newsletter and potential revisions needed). The customized newsletter for each CIBER would entail the following. Similar to the Reports section of the Management Tools, each CIBER will go in and type the dates for which they want to get "newsletter draft" material and the CIBERweb engine will generate the information. We hope to bring you more CIBERweb innovations in the near future with respect. In the meantime, all bright ideas and suggestions are welcome, as always.

Sincerely,
Tomas Hult, Director, Michigan State Univeristy CIBER

About CIBERs

The Centers for International Business Education and Research (CIBERs) were created under the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 to increase and promote the nation's capacity for international understanding and economic enterprise. Administered by the U.S. Department of Education under Title VI, Part B of the Higher Education Act of 1965, the CIBER program links the manpower and information needs of U.S. business with the international education, language training, and research capacities of universities across the U.S. Thirty universities were designated as centers that serve as regional and national resources to business, students, and academics. Together, the CIBERs form a powerful network focused on improving American competitiveness and providing comprehensive service and programs that help U.S. business succeed in global markets.
